EMMIS MARINE at the HEMEXPO Business Mission to Spain

EMMIS MARINE at the HEMEXPO Business Mission to Spain

EMMIS MARINE participated in the HEMEXPO Business Mission to Spain, held from 21 to 25 September 2026, with a focus on the Spanish shipbuilding industry.
The mission provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen international networking, exchange knowledge and experience, and explore new prospects for cooperation with key representatives of the Spanish shipbuilding sector.

As part of the mission, the team visited shipyards across northern Spain, following a route from Vigo and Ferrol to Ribadeo, Castropol, Santander and Bilbao.
In Vigo, the programme included visits to METALSHIPS & DOCKS, FREIRE SHIPYARD, ARMON SHIPYARDS, ASTILLEROS RÍA DE VIGO and NODOSA SHIPYARD. A networking dinner was also held with ACLUNAGA, the organisation representing and promoting the shipbuilding industry in Galicia, providing an additional opportunity for professional networking and the exchange of views.

The mission continued in Ferrol with a visit to NAVANTIA SHIPYARD, one of Spain’s major groups in the field of defence and military shipbuilding, with significant activity in the design and construction of vessels for defence and naval applications. The visit was particularly relevant to EMMIS MARINE, given the company’s experience in naval ship projects, and provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and the exploration of potential synergies within the defence shipbuilding sector.

The following day included visits to GONDÁN ASTILLEROS and ASTANDER, further strengthening engagement with key representatives of the Spanish shipbuilding and maritime industries.

The mission concluded in Bilbao with a visit to ZAMAKONA SHIPYARDS, a major Spanish group operating in the shipbuilding and ship repair sector, bringing to a close a series of meaningful professional meetings and exchanges of experience.

For EMMIS MARINE, participation in the business mission forms part of its ongoing commitment to internationalisation, the development of international partnerships, and the strengthening of its presence across the maritime, shipbuilding and defence sectors.

Direct engagement with industry professionals and companies, exposure to different technical and production practices, and the exchange of knowledge and experience provide a strong foundation for exploring new partnerships and future business opportunities.

Our sincere thanks to HEMEXPO for the initiative and excellent organisation of the business mission, as well as to ACLUNAGA and the BASQUE MARITIME CLUSTER for their cooperation and support.

We would also like to thank the Economic and Commercial Affairs Office of the Embassy of Greece in Madrid and Enterprise Greece for their valuable contribution to making this initiative possible.

EMMIS MARINE continues to invest in cooperation, technology and international growth, building new bridges with key players across the global maritime and shipbuilding industries.
